1. Overview

Open Guru Prayer (“the App”) is a personal companion for Nitnem, Simran, and daily reflection. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the App and the companion service hosted at https://api.openguruprayer.cc.

No account is required and we do not ask you to sign in with Apple ID, email, or a third-party identity provider to use core practice features.

2. Information stored on your device

The App may store the following information locally on your device:

• Display name and optional avatar
• Reading preferences (for example language layers and autoscroll settings)
• Reminder and notification preferences
• Reflections and reading bookmarks
• Nitnem progress, Simran sessions, and quiz results
• An anonymous device identifier kept in the device keychain

This local information remains on your device unless you choose to use online features that sync selected practice data, or you contact support.

3. Information processed by our servers

When the App is online, it may send limited data to https://api.openguruprayer.cc so shared and backup features can work:

• Anonymous device identifier
• Optional display name for shared lists, if you enable that option
• Simran session totals and related practice statistics
• Nitnem day completion records
• Quiz result history
• Ardas posts or joins you choose to submit
• Support messages you send through Contact Support

We use this information to operate the service, show shared practice totals, store the history and statistics you sync, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal information.

4. Notifications

If you enable reminders, notification scheduling is handled on your device. We do not use those reminder preferences for advertising.

5. Data retention

Local records remain on your device until you delete them or clear app data. Server-side practice history and support messages are retained as needed to provide the service and may be pruned according to operational limits. You may clear synced practice data for your device through the App’s Clear All Data action where available.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

7. Third parties

The companion API is operated for Open Guru Prayer. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in connection with this Privacy Policy. Hosting infrastructure may process technical logs such as IP addresses necessary to deliver the service securely.

8. Your choices

• Use the App offline for local practice without syncing optional online features
• Choose whether a display name appears on shared weekly lists
• Clear local records and request deletion of synced device data through the App
• Contact us with privacy questions using the details below

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when revisions are published. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
